Instructions for Abstracts
General Instructions:
Abstracts submitted to the CAP 2010 meeting must meet certain criteria and be submitted in proper form for acceptance. Failure to follow this criteria and format may result in rejection of abstract.
General Criteria:
Abstracts must be clear, concise and have good grammatical form. No advertising or company logos may be used. The data may not have been previously published in a copyrighted journal or peer reviewed publication. Technical information pertaining to the observations and conclusions cannot be withheld for proprietary reasons. Information in your abstract should include: (a) Objective of the study, (b) Method(s) where pertinent, (c) Data and results obtained, (d) Conclusions. It is not satisfactory to state “The results will be discussed”.
Results should be expressed in SI units. For additional details, refer to “Information for Authors” in Clin. Chem. 28, 1-4 (1982).
Format:
The abstract must be using the website submission form (www.capconference.com). Failure to submit an electronic version will result in rejection.
The abstract should follow the structured format used in the illustrated example. It must be typed in MS-Word using a Times New Roman 10 point or similar font. The abstract must fit a width of 14 cm (5.5 inches) and a length of 10 cm or (4 inches). Using 10 point and a 8.5”x11” page, set the margins for Top 1”, Bottom 6”, Left 1.5”, Right 1.5”. The entire text of the abstract, including title, name of authors, institutions, city province or state, and postal code must be contained within these limits.
Use short specific titles. Avoid superfluous words. Use capital letters for the title. Underline the name and initials of the presenter.
The abstract may be written in English or French; either language may also be used for the presentation.
Residents:

- If you are a Resident and wish to be considered for a D.W. Penner Award, please indicate in the appropriate box.
- If you would like your paper or poster to be considered for the Canadian Chairs of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Award in Experimental Pathology, please indicate in the appropriate box.
- If you are a Resident and wish to be considered for a CAP Hematopathology Award please indicate in the appropriate box.
- If you are a Resident and wish to be considered For a Dr. Donald Rix Award for Resident Travel please indicate in the appropriate box.
- If you are a Resident or Cytotechnologist, are presenting a poster or paper in the field of cytopathology, and wish to be considered for a Hugh Curry Award please indicate in the appropriate box.
DEADLINE: Abstracts must be received by February 28, 2010.

Registration:
The presenter’s registration form and fee for registration must be received no later than May 31, 2010 to qualify for presentation. Authors will be notified of acceptance or rejection via email by March 31, 2010.
